This is a shiboridashi (絞り出し) type teapot with a sophisticated design of the Tobikanna pattern with a ceramic tea strainer on the back of the lid. It is handmade by craftsmen in Tokoname.
The wide bore of the body allows tea leaves to be disposed of without getting stuck, and it is easy to wash and clean.
The Shiboridashi teapot is used for making gyokuro and sencha teas at low temperatures.
The teapot has a groove carved into the spout that allows tea to be poured down to the last drop (golden drop), which opens the tea leaves and brings out its flavor and aroma.
